What is Reworkit?

What is Coaching and how is it different from advice, mentorship, and/or therapy?
Coaching is based on the philosophy that you are the best person to provide yourself with answers. I will never know more about you than you know about yourself. As a result, it’s the Coach’s job to help you gain clarity, gather information, and work through your questions so that you can decide what is best for you. Your Coach will do that by using various coaching techniques and exercises that will help you look at your situation from different perspectives and determine how best to move forward.
This is different from advising and mentorship because your Coach will not tell you what to do. Your Coach may also resist sharing personal experiences in most cases, as it doesn’t matter what they chose for themself because your needs may be different. Instead, we redirect the conversation to figuring out what is best for you.
Coaching is also slightly different from Therapy as we are less interested in going backwards than in moving forward. Coaching is very action-oriented and so you will leave each session with homework and next steps for you to take. Many coaching Clients also have a Therapist, while others just have a Coach. There is no “right” way :-).
What is your coaching style/philosophy?
Our coaching style is based on a multidisciplinary approach. We mix of traditional coaching techniques with an “educator skillset”. What we mean by an “educator skillset” is the opportunity to bring in a teaching approach to share a framework, best practice, or other information pulled from psychology and/or real world business knowledge. We do that as a way to provide you with more tools which you can leverage to help you make the best decision for yourself. We believe sometimes you know the right answer, but sometimes you could use some help and new knowledge to make the best decision.
Once we share this educational information with you, then we will put back on our “coaching hat” and ask you to decide what you want to take from that information, if anything, and how you want to incorporate it into your approach. Our approach is personalized, not prescriptive and so you are the ultimate decision maker as to how you want to move forward.
What is the structure of each coaching session?
Each coaching session is scheduled for 60 minutes and may last between 50-60 minutes. The first 5-10 min of our session is spent on reviewing or reflecting on the next steps from the prior coaching session and establishing our agenda for the current session. The Client is responsible for coming to each coaching session with an idea of what they want to explore and/or get out of the session. This allows us to co-create the agenda together and reminds you that you are not a passive participant in this process, but the driver. The last 5-10 minutes of our session will be spent reflecting on the session and finalizing your next steps.
